Mallorca Mar i Muntanya Coffee Table Book

My dear readers, I hope you are all doing well and are getting back to your 'normal' life bit by bit. Since we are currently not allowed to travel I'll bring you a little closer to our island today through a short presentation of the beautiful coffee table book Mallorca – Mar i Muntanya that I have been gifted.

About the Book

Awarded the German Photo Book Prize 19|20 as gold winner in the coffee table books category, the high-quality photo book Mallorca – Mar i Muntanya takes you on a journey to the biggest Balearic island through beautiful photographs by Antonia and Alexander Feig. The two German photographers have managed to capture the pure and poetic essence of our island. What I love about their photo book is that it shows the traditional and cultural Mallorca far from tourist hotspots. Puristic food stills, epic landscapes, organic agriculture, impressive architecture, contemporary street photography and portraits of Mallorcans who represent the island, fill the large-format, 264-page book. As its subtitle "Images, Thoughts and Recipes" states, the book comprises captivating pictures, narrative texts and recipes.

What most stands out and adds a personal touch are the encounters with protagonists such as María Solivellas, a culinary genius of Mallorcan cuisine and chef of the Ca Na Toneta restaurant in Caimari. You will also learn more about Tomeu Llabrés, who grows local grape varieties in Binissalem, and the political and cultural influence of the island on the works of the Palma artist Albert Pinya.

Furthermore, you can experience Mediterranean moments of indulgence while cooking the island's typical recipes, which can be found throughout the five chapters of this illustrated book alongside puristic food photos. You are invited to try the typical coca pastry or traditional almond cake Gató among others. The book also includes a unique map of the island, hand-illustrated by the graphic designer Sandra Kubitza.

Mallorca – Mar i Muntanya is mainly written in German but for international readers there is a chapter with a translation section in English. The turquoise-colored, decorative book makes a great eyecatcher on your coffee table and brings maritime lifestyle into your home. It is available in German bookstores, on Amazon and on the website El Mallorquín, which promotes the sale of products from the island in Germany, as well as in the center of Palma at Rialto Living (C/Sant Feliu, 3).

I was so happy when Antonia and Alexander sent me the book because you all know how much I love my Mallorca and also cooking. I have a big collection of coffee table books at home and this beautiful book is a great addition. If you know anyone who adores Mallorca as much as I do or someone who likes to try Mediterranean recipes, Mallorca – Mar i Muntanya is a unique, high-quality gift for all fans of the island and the Mediterranean lifestyle.
