Best Activities in Menorca

Hello there, I hope you're all enjoying this late summer as best as you can. It's a difficult year but we should never lose our hope and stay positive that better times are coming. To me personally, one of the hardest part of this year was not being able to travel. As you know I live on an island in the Mediterranean called Mallorca and I love living here cause my life feels like I'm constantly on vacation. However, every now and then it's nice to get away for a bit. One of my biggest passions is traveling, exploring new countries and their landscapes, cities, cultures and food. So this year was a bit tough for me in this regard. I spent a week in the Maldives at the beginning of the year and it was an amazing trip but that was about it for this year. So my boyfriend and I took two short island escapes this year to our neighbor island Menorca which I love so dearly. Menorca to me is like a vacation from Mallorca. It's more quiet, laid-back and more virgin. And even though it's a small and relaxed island there are thousands of things to do! I picked a few of my favorites for this post, so here we go.

Best Brunch in Menorca

My boyfriend and I started our second two-day trip to Menorca this year with an amazing brunch at Quitapenas Menorca. Our friend picked us up from the ferry in the morning and we went straight to Biniali, where this unusual restaurant is located. They call themselves a 'chiringuito de campo' which is an open-air restaurant in the countryside. I found this place on Instagram and because their food looked so good we decided to give it a try. And let me tell you, we were amazed by the place! Quitapenas really does what its name promises: It takes away your stress and pain. The restaurant is such a beautiful, laid-back place with so many details and cool retro vibes. You really do feel carefree when eating here. And their food, seriously, I haven't eaten such a delicious brunch in a long time! At Quitapenas you can expect healthy, colorful, tasty and surprising food. I kicked off my meal with a yummy matcha smoothie followed by an avocado and carrot hummus toast, both delicious! The boys tried toast with salmon, avocado and popcorn and benedict eggs with beetroot salsa. Omg, it was all so yummy! We ended up sharing our plates and I loved each and every one. For the sweet touch we ordered a French toast that came with vanilla cream and bacon, ugh I wanted to lick the plate. Never has a restaurant surprised me so much. Thank you for an amazing brunch, Quitapenas Menorca, we will surely come back!

Next Stop Binibeca

When visiting Menorca I always love coming to Binibeca. It was one of the first places I visited on this island (see the post here) and I fell in love with it back then. Binibeca is such a charming little town with its whitewashed houses and narrow, winding alleys. It's just a five-minute drive from Quitapenas and other beautiful little towns like Binisafuller. You can spend an hour here or two, depending on how many photos you take, haha. You can also go for a coffee here or just chill and wander this magical, white little town. It's up to you!

Cova d'en Xoroi, a truly magical Experience

We spent a relaxed afternoon at our friend's home and decided to go for a sunset drink at the Cova d'en Xoroi. Now I have to be honest, you better plan your visit of this 'cave club' in advance (you can even buy tickets online) because otherwise you may have to wait in line for over an hour like we did that day. We caught the last sunrays just in time before the sun eventually set because we really had to wait that long before they would let us in. Once inside though, you will not be disappointed. The Cova d'en Xoroi is an impressive club located in a natural cliff with several tunnels and terraces on which you can enjoy spectacular sea views day and night. It really is a unique place in Menorca (and mabye the world) that you should definitely visit when coming to this island. We were lucky because that day they had a live concert with an amazing duo that made the setting feel even more magical. Sipping rosé and listening to 'Your Song' by Elton John in a cave right next to the open sea, is there anything more romantic really?

S’Albufera des Grau Natural Reserve

On our second day of this trip it was a bit grey and cloudy so decided not to head to the beach directly but go for a relaxing walk in the natural reserve of S’Albufera des Grau which covers more than 5,000 hectares in which a large variety of animals and plants live. We have a similar natural reserve in Mallorca, just ten minutes from where we live, and we love going there for walks in nature. It just helps you disconnect from daily life, which can be stressful at times, and reconnect with Mother Nature. Miguel and I went for a two-hour walk with a picnic stop in between and we saw only three persons in the entire park. It was beautiful to have this calm, soothing place all for ourselves... and some turtles and birds.

Paella in Sa Mesquida

We ended our trip with a relaxing break at the beautiful beach of Sa Mesquida which our friend had recommended. The beach was absolutely amazing. Almost empty, surrounded by lush dunes, with golden sand and crystal clear water, what else could we have asked for? We spent a quiet hour here and swam a bit before meeting our friend for lunch at the nearby Cap Roig Restaurant. We ordered their seafood paella for lunch which was heavenly! The restaurant offers stunning views of the Sa Mesquida bay and surrounding cliffs. All in all, it was a short but very sweet trip to Menorca. We have discovered many new places, tried new restaurants and were beyond happy with all of them. A perfect island escape <3

Menorca Tips

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing fine and enjoying summer as best as they can. Today I have a new blog post for you about a short trip we took to our neighbor island Menorca a few days ago. We visited so many new beautiful places that I'd like to share with you here.

Platja des Canutells
The small resort of Es Canutells has a beautiful small beach with crystal clear water and a natural harbor where you will find some traditional fisher boats.

Cala de Binibeca
If you're looking for a quiet swim in turquoise water this beach is for you. The sand beach of Binibeca is surrounded by rocks and shallow water, the perfect place for snorkeling, paddle boarding or family picnis.

Es Bruc Restaurant in Sant Tomas
One of the most popular places in Menorca for lunch by the sea. If you'd like to enjoy your paella, seafood or burger with stunning views of a golden beach and the open sea, head to Es Bruc Restaurant in Sant Tomas.

Cales Coves
One of my all time favorites on the island. The secluded coves of Cales Coves near Cala en Porter. It's a hot 20-minute walk in summer to reach the coves but it's so worth it! You will be rewarded with crystal clear water, a beautiful natural scenery with high cliffs, and only few visitors.

Es Grau
Both a natural reserve and large beach Es Grau is the ideal place for family picnis or excursions with friends. The water at the beach is shallow and very clear which makes it a perfect bathing spot for small kids. The natural reserve offers different hiking routes that allow you to watch wild birds, encounter turtles and connect with Mother Nature.

Son Parc
The area of Son Parc is usually quite touristy as it's a resort but due to Covid it was all abandoned and quiet this year. Go for a walk by the coast here to enjoy stunning views of the sandstones and wild sea.

I hope you liked this post! If you're looking for more Menorca tips check out my other posts about this beautiful island by clicking here.

How to spend a Weekend on Menorca

Hello guys, how was your summer? Mine was pretty busy and fun, that's why you haven't heard of me in two months... time flies. Since this blog is just a hobby of mine I sometimes take a break from it, especially when life gets busy. During the summer season I simply don't have time (or any motivation) to stay inside, sit in front of the computer, edit photos and write a new blog post. Since I live on Mallorca I spend my summers working hard, enjoying the beaches and time with my boyfriend, family and friends who come visit me, going out and just living summer to the fullest.

Anyway, today I finally have a new post for you about a short trip my boyfriend and I took to Menorca, Mallorca's stunning neighbor island.

How to spend a weekend on Menorca

I adore Menorca, the peace and tranquility of the island, its breathtaking beaches and landscapes, its cozy towns and lovely people. To me Menorca is like a smaller, more intimate and untouched, better maintained, cleaner and less busy version of its bigger sister island Mallorca. Luckily, we have a good friend there who lets us stay at his cute apartment in the tiny town of Es Mercadal. So we can visit him and the island whenever we like. I always love a weekend escape to Menorca to disconnect and let go of stress. This time we explored a few stunning new places we had never been to before that I would like to show you here.

Beaches of Son Saura

On our first day our friends took us to the secluded beaches of Son Saura which are located in a large nature preserve that is also a great starting point for hikes. Once we had parked our car we walked about 10 minutes to the first beach but decided to head to the second, larger one as the water there looked even more beautiful than at the first one. Seriously, the water was just divine! Crystal clear, turquoise and refreshing. We found a nice spot in the shade away from the crowds where we spent all day swimming, snorkelling and relaxing. I love how well preserved Menorca's beaches are. You can't reach them by car but always have to park far away and walk a bit so the cars don't destroy the surrounding nature. And even though the beaches are secluded, there are garbage bins and toilets for more cleanliness. Menorca takes good care of its beautiful nature!

Later at night we went for dinner in Mahón, Menorca's capital. We had yummy Asian food at the beautiful Restaurante Way which I can totally recommend! Scroll down to see what we did on our second day.

Binisafuller and Binidali

My boyfriend and I spent our second and last day on Menorca exploring the south east of the island. Our first stop was the stunning Es Calo Blanc, a simply breathtaking little cove with turquoise water and lots of rocks to jump from. As it is a non-touristy cove there are no stairs, sunbeds or other amenities which I love because it's all natural and virgin. There's a parking just one minute away from the cove and it's really easy to find. Even though the water looked so tempting we didn't jump in but decided to explore the surrounding area a bit. We walked along the beautiful coastline and stopped here and there to take photos of the cute houses and gardens until we reached Cala Binisafuller, another postcard place. That cove is home to a small natural harbour. There are a tiny beach, some small boats and beautiful whitewashed houses as far as the eye can see. How could I not fall in love with this pretty place?

After exploring Binisafuller for a bit we headed to the nearby town of Binidali which was even tinier and less crowded. I wouldn't even call it a town, rather a resort. If you ever visit Binidali make sure to stop by the lovely Som Sis bar that offers yummy snacks and drinks with splendid views over the coast. We stayed here for almost an hour enjoying our drinks, the chill out music, views and a light sea breeze. The bar is located right above Cala Binidali, another stunning cove with crystal clear water that is surrounded by high cliffs from where you have amazing views. Stop for a bath here if you're in Binidali!

I hope you liked this post and that it gives you a reason to visit Menorca some day. It truly is a stunning island perfect for romantics and adventurers!
