Fons de Mar Beach Bar and Restaurant

Happy Wednesday, my dear readers. I hope your week is going great so far! Summer is in full swing here on the island and we're enjoying it to the fullest... or as much as our jobs allow us, haha. Last week my boyfriend and I went for lunch by the turquoise sea. Mario, the lovely owner of Fons de Mar, invited us to spend a relaxed afternoon at his hip beach restaurant/bar or 'chiringuito' in Playa de Muro. So last Wednesday we enjoyed some delicious cocktails and great food right on the beach.

About Fons de Mar

The beach restaurant and bar Fons de Mar is located in Playa de Muro right by the sea. You lunch or dine with your feet in the sand while watching people swim and listening to the sounds of the ocean. They also have live music on some evenings, perfect to enjoy a sundowner by the sea. Fons de Mar offers all kinds of tasty dishes from typical Spanish tapas to pizza, burgers and, not to forget, their authentic Mexican food! My boyfriend and I decided to try their nachos, shrimp and veggie fajitas and tacos with pulled pork. We were surely not disappointed, everything was absolutely delicious! The food was accompanied by two refreshing cocktails. I chose a mango ginger mojito while Miguel enjoyed a strawberry caipiroska, both very yummy.

After indulging in all these delicacies we laid down on one of many comfy sunbeds you find at the beach bar. Enjoying some shade, a light sea breeze and an ice cold frappuccino for dessert we completely relaxed. On days like this I'm especially thankful for living in Mallorca. Mini escapes like these make me feel like I'm on vacation myself. I hope you're all having a great summer, no matter where you are right now, and that you also find some time to escape, disconnect and simply enjoy life. Oh, and if you spend your vacation in Mallorca, don't forget to stop by Fons de Mar :-)

Vietnam Diary - Phu Quoc Starfish Beach

Hello everyone from paradise island! During our Vietnam trip we spent almost four days on Phu Quoc Island and absolutely loved it. I already told you a bit about this little paradise in my last post. So today you'll get to see some more photos of a heavenly beach on the island we explored on our second day, called Starfish Beach.

How to get to Starfish Beach

Starfish Beach is an 'attraction' I had seen on Instagram when I was looking up places to see and things to do on the island. The beach is famous for its abundance of starfish you will find at the shore. It also looked like a beautiful tropical beach so we really wanted to see it.

After googling the beach a bit we found out that it was about 40 minutes away from where we stayed so we decided to rent a scooter from our bungalow. It was the first time we would drive a scooter in Vietnam. And it surely wasn't difficult! Driving on Phu Quoc Island is super easy. There are just a few main roads, some smaller side roads and everyone is driving quite carefully and gives you space.
To get to Starfish Beach we had to pass Rach Vem, a very small seaside town. Once there, you'll easily find several signs telling you how to get to Starfish Beach. From the parking where we left our scooter it was only a one-minute walk to the beach. Starfish Beach is a stunning tropical beach with fine white sand, crystal clear water and swaying palm trees that provide shade to relax, take a siesta or read a book. One tip, the further you walk down the beach the less tourists you will see...

Staying at Starfish Beach

We stayed pretty much at the end of the beach where we found a nice spot under the palm trees. There were only very few people so we could fully enjoy the sound of the waves, go for a swim, have an undisturbed lunch and even a short siesta. Furthermore, it was a wonderful experience observing the red starfish in their natural habitat and admiring their beauty far away from the tourist crowds. I have seen many starfish on Mallorca before but those on Phu Quoc Island were bigger and different.

During the last few years the beach has gained popularity, especially among Russian and Chinese tourists. At the beginning of the beach we saw many of them taking photos with the starfish and then immediately leaving which I think is a pity because the beautiful beach has so much more to offer! Also, I was shocked when I saw tourists grab a starfish, take a photo and throw it back in the water. I hate to see people treat nature like this! If you ever find a starfish and would like to take a photo of or with it, please don't touch it but leave it where it is without disturbing it. It's an amazing living creature which can easily be harmed.

Sunset at Ocsen Beach Bar

After a wonderfully relaxing morning by the sea we headed back to the town to have a late lunch and change before watching the sunset at the beach. Ocsen Beach Bar at Long Beach is a fantastic place to grab a bite, enjoy a beer or cocktail, listen to some chill out music and admire the beautiful colors the sun paints when plunging into the ocean. This is how our second full day on Phu Quoc Island ended and I couldn't have imagined a better way!

Cassai Mallorca

Hey guys, as promised, here's the next post that's been waiting to be published for a while now. Today I'll take you to a lovely place, Ses Salines in Mallorca, where you will find a really cool restaurant and pretty interior shop. I went there a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and my friend Mariella. We spent a lovely Sunday morning at the beach, Cala Mondragó, and visited the town afterwards where we had a fantastic time.

Cassai Gran Café and Restaurant

After relaxing at the beach for a bit we went to Ses Salines for lunch. We quickly grabbed some typical Mallorquin sandwich at a local bar because we were so hungry and it was quite late for lunch already. After that we headed to Cassai Gran Café and Restaurant. It really is a one-of-a-kind place. A wonderful mix between boho, Mediterranean, vintage and jungle fever. We had three different, all very delicious cocktails and chilled at the restaurant for a bit. It was pretty quiet in the afternoon so the perfect spot to relax.

Cassai Home

After enjoying our cocktails we went to check out Cassai Home, the beautiful interior shop right across the street from the restaurant. They have fabulous stuff, from beautiful pillow cases to paintings, bags and dresses, lamps and much more. They don't only offer decór but also fashion! I fell in love with almost every single thing I spotted in the store. You can lose hours there admiring every detail. We spent a while at the shop and later headed to the beautiful Cala Llombards, another great beach in the area. If you're in the area of Ses Salines make sure to stop by the amazing Cassai Restaurant and interior shop!
