Hello there, Manhattan!

Hey guys, hope you all had a marvelous Monday! Are you planning a NYC trip in the near future or some day in your life? Today I'll tell you all about the best spots to admire the skyline - Hello there, Manhattan!

  1. Staten Island Ferry: I took the first photos you can see in this post on the ferry. It provides you with a perfect view of Lower Manhattan, the Freedom Tower and the Statue of Liberty! Plus, the ride from Manhattan to Staten Island and back is free, woohoo!
  2. Brooklyn Bridge Park: This park is surely one of my favorite New Yorker spots, not only because they have romantic movie nights in summer ;-) If you cross the Brooklyn Bridge walking (which we did here), you will already have a great view from there. Once you get to Brooklyn Bridge Park you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the skyline and some relaxing lawns. You can see the park and the wonderful view in these last few photos. Note: It's even more breathtaking at night!
  3. The Piers in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) and Long Island City (Queens): Hipster hoods and relaxing spots with a great view, can you ask for more?
  4. Roosevelt Island: One of my favorite islands around Manhattan and the best thing about it is... you can get there with the Roosevelt Island tram that takes you over the East River! So you don't just get an amazing view of the skyline but also of the Manhattan streets from above! (Check out my posts about Roosevelt Island by clicking here)
  5. Hoboken (New Jersey): A lovely place in Jersey, quiet and peaceful, just perfect to admire the skyline! You can easily get there with the PATH train. Note: I celebrated the Fourth of July there, which was incredible! The views of Manhattan's skyline with the fireworks are just unbeatable! (See the pictures here)

I hope you'll all get to enjoy one of these places at least once! If you have any questions regarding traveling to New York or non-tourist spots, feel free to ask me ;-) Enjoy the photos!

From Wall Street to the Brooklyn Bridge

My dearest readers, I sincerely apologize for not satisfying your New York City photo cravings lately but you have to understand that the Big Apple keeps me overly busy. By now I have to face reality - these are my last ten days here - and as usual I'm trying to make the most of my life, thus no time for blogging! I promise you will get to see some more fabulous New Yorker shots as soon as I get back to the oh so gray Germany though.
As you know, I'm always doing my best to give you the chance to virtually explore New York City by showing you all the neighborhoods and their characteristic traits that you don't know yet, I introduce you to new restaurants, take you to party with me and my friends in the New Yorker clubs, and let you participate in events or social happenings taking place in the city that never sleeps.
Today I decided to show you some pictures of Lower Manhattan I took a while ago. Wall Street, the Charging Bull, the New York Harbor, One World Trade Center, the Stock Exchange, the Brooklyn Bridge and the City Hall - there's a handful of sights to explore in this part of Manhattan. The second  picture is already two years old (wow, the Big Apple and I had a pretty long romance going on), see how short the Freedom Tower was back then? By now One World Trade Center has grown, being the tallest building in New York City since April 30, 2012. So many things have changed since I came to New York in December 2010, and just like the Freedom Tower has reached its new height, I have grown with New York!

The Artist in me

One of the reasons why I am not writing a fashion blog is that I simply have more to talk about than just fashion. As you can see in this post I don't even always care about the way I'm dressed - a casual plaid shirt paired with jeans and Converse always works for me. Besides, New York City has so much more to offer than just hip fashionistas!
Thus I am taking you to the wonderful Brooklyn Bridge Park today (one of my favorite parks in the city) or more precisely to the DUMBO Arts Festival which I attended last year already (click here to see the post). When I checked out the art pieces with my best friend Yasemin last year (Yasemin, New York misses you tons), we had a marvelous time - for this reason I just had to go back to see what the artists created this year and again... it blew my mind! Not only the weather was worth going to the festival - check out this fascinating shot I took of the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan right before a thunderstorm! I am always admiring how creatively and uniquely artists express their thoughts and ideas by transforming them into sculptures, paintings and other works of art. Just look at those phenomenal pieces of art every single genius created! This year we were even allowed to actively participate by painting a huge board with other festival-visitors. Enjoy the picures!

Worship Everything

Call it morbid, pessimistic or just awkward, but I always leave the house with one thought in my mind: What if I get overrun by a bus tomorrow? First of all, there is no particular reason why I am thinking of a bus (it could also be a Lamborghini or Maybach), secondly that does not mean that I see life from a very pessimistic perspective. Far from it! I try very hard to enjoy every single day I get to spend in this wonderful city called New York. I generally try to make the most of life, not only in the Big Apple but all over the place. So please, my lovely readers, keep in mind: You only live once, so live accordingly!
Today I am taking you to Long Island City's waterfront, an adorable part of Queens, where the East River Ferry took me, what an adventurous ride! As an incredibly clumsy person I fell on the ferry (literally landing on my face) which made it even more adventurous - thank God that never happened to me on a first date! I was rewarded richly for the fall though, Long Island City's wonderful park by the East River provided me with spectacular views of Manhattan's skyline and the famous Pepsi Cola sign. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed this pretty special trip!
