Welcome to the Land of Fame Excess, Am I gonna fit in?

Welcome to the United States of America - the stars and stripes, the melting pot, the land of liberty... it's up to you how you call these fifty magnificent states but I'm pretty sure we all agree, they are fabulous! There's an indefinite number of things to see in the USA, so many different landscapes, cultures and people! Before I came to New York over two years ago I didn't expect much, I planned to take advantage of my time in the US but I never anticipated this!
After two years I've been to nine states myself visiting all the famous and most diverse cities, each one of them being a dream come true. I traveled to Nevada, California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and many more, to broaden my horizons and see all different parts of the country. And there are still a lot more I have to visit!
The first state I've been to was New York of course, my beloved home... the last one was New Jersey, an unforgettable trip to Atlantic City. In between I spent a couple relaxing weeks in sunny California - Los Angeles and San Diego are both insanely beautiful and laid-back. I took a weekend trip to Vegas, spent a week in Florida's enchanting Disney World, educated myself while visiting one cultural metropolis after the other such as Washington D.C., Boston and Philadelphia, chilled at the Jersey Shore, and had an extremely splendid time in Miami and Chicago.
Now that I'm writing this post I realize how much I have really seen while living in the United States, how exciting my life became and how enriching all these experiences were, memories no one could ever take away... the United States of America, where wonderland is your destiny!

Washington, D.C. Part IV - Hello Mr. President!

From New York to Washington, D.C. - this will be the last post of my marvelous trip to this beautiful city.
What I found really impressing were the 4,048 golden stars that the Freedom Wall in the World War II Memorial holds. Each star represents one hundred Americans who died during World War II. There were so many stars on this wall, I could barely imagine the amount of people who died in that war if each single star stands for one hundred persons - this is the true price of freedom.
After walking around for two days already, we decided to rent bikes, and I can tell... it was hilarious! We had such an awesome time biking through the city - in fact no one in New York City rides a bike so I haven't done it in more than a year!
Somehow we finally made it to the White House. I've seen it countless times on TV but I honestly have to admit, I didn't expect it to be that small! Standing in front of the surrounding fence, I was like: 'It's beautiful but seriously, this is it?' Even the Lincoln Memorial impressed me more - sorry Mr. Obama, it's not your fault ;-)
Our last stop was Georgetown, to me the most beautiful and cozy part of the city thanks to its closeness to the river and all the little shops and colorful houses you could find there.
Washington, D.C., thanks for letting me escape the busy, noisy and sometimes really grey New York City life! I didn't relax that much in a long time!

Washington, D.C. Part III - Lincoln and the Washington Monument

This is my third Washington D.C. post and I love all the pictures because they remind me of the awesome time we had in the U.S. capital. Today you get to see the world renowned Washington Monument and - not to miss - Abraham Lincoln of course. Enjoy!

Hey there, Mr. Lincoln!

Washington, D.C. Part I - The Pentagon and more

Welcome to Washington, D.C - one of the most beautiful cities I visited in the US so far!
I decided to explore the capital on the Easter weekend and had such a great time doing some sightseeing and escaping the big city life by simply relaxing in the sun. I consider Washington as a stunning city, not as diverse or exciting as New York but just charming and beautiful! What surprised and delighted me most was the fact that the city is so green, with so many trees and gorgeous parks! You wouldn't think this is very astonishing but believe me, if you have lived in NYC for more than a year, you're sometimes glad to just see some nature and less traffic AND people :-D So the next three or four posts will be about my trip to the capital and I hope that you will be as fascinated as I was!
