A New Yorker Moment Part III
THIS, my lovely readers, is one of my favorite New Yorker shots ever!
I took the photo you see above in March 2013 on the Roosevelt Island Tram hovering above the city. I was so overwhelmed with the peace in this photo when I took it. How calm and concentrated the little kid's staring out of the window - admiring the huge world in front of his eyes. When he caught me taking a photo of him he was confused at first but then smiling at me... Gosh, you should have seen this adorable smile!
I adore taking photos of people in and around Manhattan, you get to see the craziest things in New York. People running around with bats is a good example. This is part three of my "New Yorker Moment"-series, hope you enjoy it!

It's a Snapback Thing
Hello there, hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas season!
Today's post is "oh, surprise" an outfit post (which is pretty rare on my blog). It's all about the snapback this time... an accessory that makes me feel quite ambivalent. You wanna know why?
First of all, I still have that stereotypical "snapback-wearer" in mind... a guy from the Bronx (like me!), most likely a hip hop kid, wearing low cut jeans, bold jewelry and Jordan's (or whatever the hottest sneaker is) - an ultra cool guy rappin' his way through the New Yorker streets thinking he is the s**t. Incredible badass guys such as Lil Wayne or Jay Z - that's what I think of when I hear the word "snapback".
As you all know I have spent a long time in New York City and also my entire summer 2013 on Mallorca. After traveling back and forth between Germany, the States and Spain this year I have come to the conclusion: SNAPBACKS ARE EVERYWHERE!
Any skinny New Yorker model is most often missing a bra, but never a snapback. When I went to a Tyga concert at the beginning of this year, every single male person in the club was wearing that kind of cap, however, they were mostly 17 years old and had no idea what exactly Tyga was singing there. On Mallorca my jaw dropped when I saw 11 year-old kids passing by on the "very touristy" boardwalk, all rocking a snapback. No matter whether it said "I love my haters" (that's surely a great one for a 9 year-old), "Dope", "YMCMB" or simply "Miami Heat". See, I had no idea what Miami Heat was before I came to NYC, I never watched basketball when I grew up in Germany, neither did I know what YMCMB stands for - how would a cute kid know the exact meaning of what's on top of his head?
I'm kinda done with this cap, in my opinion there are very few people who look authentic and cool when wearing snapbacks. Some of them I met in NYC, some of them have a true hip hop soul such as one of my favorite bloggers, Vanessa of kugelrum.com. I'm not even sure if that includes me :-D
I was so proud when I bought my very own first black and pink Yankee hat at the Times Square Foot Locker store in New York last year. I felt cool, you know gangsta-like cool. But after I've seen all these peeps with snapbacks, I'm not really that much into it anymore.
However, enjoy these pics of me rocking my "whatever-you-wanna-call-it-style"! Have a great weekend, xoxo

Picasso Baby
Hey fellas, today's post is of a very different kind as you will notice. You know I'm always tyring my best to make my blog look as interesting as I can and since I am a very versatile person it comes naturally to me to try a lot of new things such as different kinds of photography or art and fashion - whatever it is that attracts my attention.
After living in New York City for over two years, art is certainly one of my favorite hobbies, no matter if I'm the artist or the admirer. You can find loads of posts on my blog about museums I visited in Manhattan, about art festivals I attended and drawings I did myself (make sure to check out my favorite art festival in Brooklyn by clicking here ). I still didn't post about the famous SCOPE exhibition I attended in March when I was in New York, I promise I'm gonna show you some crazy art pieces you've never seen before!
Today you can check out two of my own drawings/paintings.
The first one is dedicated to a good friend from the States. He is in love with Tarantino movies, his favorite basketball team is the Brooklyn Nets and he is uhm, let's say proud to be an American! Since I adore graffitis I threw my own ideas in there and this is the outcome - a colorful explosion of random objects I put together.
The second painting is a result of my imagination running riot, an abstract version of the New York City skyline. You can clearly tell I'm not a big fan of of black and gray!
I can totally imagine myself standing in my (future) own studio all day, my hair up in a bun, in one of my loose-fitting button-down shirts, just painting all day and getting lost in the flow of colors.
Oh dear, what a great idea... but maybe I should start studying first and earn some money before allowing my hobbies to become my job. Enjoy the pictures!

The perfect Vacation
Hey guys, do you love palm trees as much as I do? I suppose Mallorca's habitants must think I'm crazy when they see me taking photos of random palm trees on the street. Can't blame me, I love those trees that are so common for people who are lucky enough to live in a country that has about 300 days of sun a year!
My Mallorca vacation has been amazing so far! I have experienced so many incredible adventures and seen plenty of different landscapes on this small island, each being extremely impressive. This vacation surely merits the label "perfect".
Today I show you some more pictures of Mallorca's capital Palma, a vibrant city full of beautifully adorned buildings, extravagant shops, terrific restaurants and one-of-a-kind bars and lounges. Not to forget the marvelous cathedral that immediately attracts your attention when strolling through Palma. Enjoy!

It's a Roc Nation! Hova in the House
Hip-hop hooray! Shawn "Jay Z" Carter kicked off an jaw-dropping eight-show run to christen Brooklyn's new Barclays Center (home to the Brooklyn Nets) and I was part of it! The Grammy-winning king of hip hop playing his most famous songs in the brand new arena - how could I resist? Let me tell you this... it was cra-z! Not only the fact that thousands of people are coming together to celebrate one person's fame, also the size of the stadium was incredible!
"Hova" has undoubtedly redefined both the music industry and the American Dream which could both be seen and heard on stage. Jay Z himself told us: "You just gotta find out what you're a genius at. I don't believe that God thought: Oh, you're special. To another one: No, you're not. Everyone is good at something!" Mr. Carter himself perfectly embodies this motto for sure!
There was only one melody (okay, maybe four) that I couldn't identify with any song I heard during the last 21 years of my life... apart from that I sang my heart out to every song Jay Z performed - amongst others "99 Problems", "Clique", "On to the next one" and "Big Pimpin". The concert was overwhelming, mesmerizing and breathtaking at the same time - an unforgettable celebration of life! How often do you have the chance to witness the king of hip hop solidify his reign at Barclays Center?
